Hello friends, stay a while and listen

I have a great love of video games and have played them since the early years of my life; practically since I could walk and talk. Having played games for so long is both a blessing and a curse for me when it comes to blogging. As I decide to start a blog and put pen to paper with ideas for my first ever blog post I find that I have a flood of ideas and am not actually sure where to start and what game to play first. There are so many great games that have shaped the gaming the world and influenced me over the last few decades.

Upon thinking about this further I have decided the best place to start is the beginning of my life and the first games I have ever played which influenced me and got me into playing games in the first place. Looking through the list of games that got me into gaming in the 90s where better place to start than with Diablo 1 released by Blizzard Entertainment (formerly Blizzard North) in 1997; the first game in a great series and start of a massive universe with extensive lore that has really accelerated the popularity of RPGs.

Diablo 1 is an RPG set in a small town called Tristram in the kingdom of Khanduras in the mortal realm. The player controls a lone hero journeying beneath the town of Tristam through sixteen randomly generated dungeons battling demons and eventually entering hell in order to face Diablo the Lord of Terror and upon defeating him rid the realm of demons and evil.

Over this month and next I will be playing through Diablo 1 and possibly the expansion Hellfire to relive the experience and get that nostalgic feeling; the last time I played through Diablo 1 was many years ago so it should truly bring me back to my childhood years. As I play through Diablo meeting iconic players like: Adria, Grisworld, Deckard Cain and Wirt the peg-legged boy and slaying iconic demons like: The Butcher, King Leoric, Archbishop and Diablo himself to name a few I will be giving my opinions and views on the gameplay and experience. Once I have completed Diablo and feel satisfied, I will post another blog post with my final thoughts of the game as it stands now some 23 years ago and review it. I hope to share this game with the world, inspire others to get into retro gaming, take up this game, play it and have fun. You can find further updates and info at any of the following places:
